More hare coursing - watch this space

I have just been working in the garden this evening and noticed two men with three lurcher type dogs walking the adjacent field - I saw three hares there this morning. I have notified the police and the complaint has been logged by, presumably, a civilian support assistant in Aberdeen.

OH has taken photos and is away to try to get the car registration - we can see the car from home.

It will be interesting to see how soon this complaint is followed up!

  • Claire, hope you get a result from this certainly plenty of probable evidence but please take care when dealing with these scum. From personal past experience they are not a pleasant bunch.Due to the big money involved in coursing in our area they have been known to threaten landowners who turfed them off the land.Keep pressure up on the local police I know like most forces they are thinly spread but wildlife crime seems to be coming to the fore a bit more nowadays. Please keep us informed as to how you get on and good on you for pushing it.

    Hi claire

Seaman has said it in volumes here....take care of yourself and you

You really have to safeguard your own life, and safety, and you do not want to be hunkered with some unpleasant scum who will haunt you forever and amen.

Just keep a low profile, and report all the evidence as you have done so, but do not go back to the same area for the time being.

Well done with the Car Reg as that is a start to pinning criminals down for their nasty antics.

Please tell us what your findings are?

    Regards

  • Thanks for all the comments and advice. Personal safety is a priority, I agree. But it is really difficult when you see the activity taking place before your own eyes.

The man in the black beannie, I have "known" over a period of about seven years. The first time I saw him was in a similar situation to last night but I took the wrong action - yelling. He simply continued to walk arrogantly around the field with his mate and dogs before sloping off to his vehicle.

We saw him again, later, in the same field but by the time OH drove round to where the vehicle was parked he was off.

Sometime after, while out walking with OH a few miles from home, we watched him in a different field but did not have phones with us. A local farmer advised he had reported the incident to the police. The dogs did catch a hare on that occasion.

On another occasion, I phoned the local farmer regarding this practice and was advised to call the police but before doing so the man and his pal had vanished.

These are just a few of the times I have seen the man in the black beannie and his friend around here but there has been a lull in activity over the past couple of years or so until last night.

Grampian Police have not been back in touch and I suppose the photos are only circumstantial evidence but I shall keep you updated on any developments. If I have not heard from them further by the end of the week, I'll contact them again.

Bob, I didn't contact TP as I remembered that GP advised they had passed details to TP.

    Hi Claire

Just be careful as you really do not know the characters of these people - there are some 'nutter's in this world and they are everywhere.   They will make you feel responsible for their problems all of the time.

You may 'simply' get more than you bargained for at the end of the day.  These people may be watching you, as much as you are watching them - so take care....

I see that Crimewatch is on BBC1 in the morning at the moment, and it many be a thought to report the 'monsters' as these people seem to be.  Just a thought......but tread carefully at all costs for your own protection.
