Hi could any one advise me. i have Robins nesting in the hedge between myself and the nieghbouring house
The nieghourss have started to rip down the fence and hedge with out any regard for the nestining birds
I would like to know if they can be stoped untill at least the birds have finished nesting.
You could try appealing to their better nature and point the nest out to them.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Welcome to the RSPB Community paul
Yes they can.
Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1981/69/contents All birds, their nests and eggs are protected by law and it is thus an offence, with certain exceptions, intentionally to:
If, therefore, you bring the nesting Robin to your neighbour's attention and they subsequently destroy the nest they will have broken the law.

Every day a little more irate about bird of prey persecution, and I have a cat - Got a problem with that?
Hi Paul, I am coming a bit late on this one but I do hope you have taken the advice about the Wildlife and Countyside Act. Yes - do speak to your neighbours first but I wouldn'r wait till the nest is destroyed or the birds disturbed at all. There should be a police officer in your area who duties specifically include wildlife crime. Phone the local Police and findout who he/she is and get him/her on side! Hope you have a good conclusion to this. Let us all know eh?

Hi AllThanks for your advice, just to let you all know. I have informed the neighbors about the Robins nest and chicks in the hedge between us, and on doing so was told tough it was coming down.I let them know it was an offense to disturb them. The reply that I got was that it was coming down regardless and " let them nick him !! but they would know who had reported them".This is what living in this country has come to its very SAD!Thanks againPaul.
Hi Paul. Yes I suppose you do have to go on living there. Don't people make you sick! At least you know that all of us on this site sympathise with you.
