Hi
I live in the centre of Guildford, in a flat on the third floor with a small patio area. I have two window boxes containing heathers and lavender plants.
About a week ago a duck has nested in one of the boxes. She laid an egg, then everyday since has disappeared all day and night-returning every morning at about 7am to lay another egg. She then disappears until the next morning and the cycle repeats.
There are now 7 eggs in my window box.
What should I do? If anything.
The nearest water is about half a mile away.
Will the eggs hatch? If they do what will happen to the chicks as there is nowhere for them to go and the window box is about 40 feet above ground level which is concrete.
Grateful for any advice.
Thanks
Storky

Ducks are not the smartest cookies in the tin. They do nest in some extraordinary places. I don't think there's much you can do except be on standby to lend a helping hand. How are your catching skills? Remember this incident in Washington State, USA?

You too could have your 15 minutes of fame.
