Big Garden Beak Watch - BTO watch

Hi there

I found this article in the news about birds found with deformed beaks. The BTO wants us to report them to their website if any birds show signs of beak disabilities.... when we see them in our gardens.

This article came out in December so this must be the month that the BTO will remind us to do this 'good deed' each and every year

Anyway please tell me what you think of this idea -

Personally, I think it is a good idea because there are a number of incidents where birds are found in peoples garden with beak deformities and it is so sad for the bird.

  • Hi there

I thought of bumping this thread up about the subject of deformed beaks

    For members interest!

  • Definately a good idea! Will help us to learn more about these deformities and how often they occur with different species and will help us to understand why. I have brought this survey to the attention of quite a few people on this forum. It's still going on coz they got more reports than they thought they would, so if you see any birds with deformed beaks, you should definately tell them and send in photos if you can!

    Home again, home again.

  • Eventhough I've never seen birds with deformed beaks, I think it's a good idea to keep a record of them, and I will definately send some data if I found one :)

'Dip a dee dah, dip a dee ay, we're not seeing any birds to-day...'
