Scandal of A Duck Farmer - Seriously Distressing

Having just watched SKY News and an investigation into a Duck Farm I find myself upset and totally disgusted with activities at this farm. How a farm owner can be unaware of such cruelty is beyond belief. The offenders should serve time in my view and the farmer should loose his licence for life.
How these grown men can can themselves human is beyond me.
Here is a link but be warned it is distressing

  • I'm mostly a veggie too - I can't bare to think about animals being slaughtered like this. If you want to eat meat, which is fine, yes, buy from a truely trustable farm, or even better, keep your own chickens and ducks. Some thinks this is cruel to keep them and eat them, and to be honest I won't be able to do this myself, but it's the best way of ensuring that the meat comes from the reliable source.

'Dip a dee dah, dip a dee ay, we're not seeing any birds to-day...'

  • Hi Tern,

I completely agree that keeping your own chickens and ducks is the best way - as long as you know how to look after them properly and feed them well, and have a big enough garden!

Also - how can you be "mostly a veggie"? Either you are or your not! lol

    Home again, home again.

I know... that's what everyone asks me! I'm a part time veggie - I AVOID meat but I don't fuss when I have to eat them... sorta thing!

  • Very upsetting, in fact I'm choked up looking at the footage.  I suppose you have to be somewhat toughened to do a job like that, e.g work in a abbatoire or places where you are in contact with animal stock sourced for food but even then there is a line to be drawn.  The men shown on this film are cruel and show no respect, they should have been kicked off the site at the first sign of any abuse.  It's absolutely appalling and I really hope the farm loses all it's business.

No offence to farmers generally but this particular one needs to be hauled over the coals.

Im too afraid to click on the link. I cant stand any cruelty to any animals, its got to be the lowest of the lowest!

I didn't click on the link either. I think I know what it's going to be like, and I don't want any terrible images staying with me.

I also hope that the RSPCA prosecute.

    Best wishes Chris

  • Hi Sarah think that a unfortunate phrase that it seems majority of farms treat their animals like less than nothing assure you that is not the case no more than majority of humans cruel,by such a careless remark you only make people believe what is definitely not true.

Being a retired farmer know lots of them and not one would I class like that.

The obvious proof is that all farm animals are quite valuable and they care for them as valuable animals but also because they are responsible for them.Of course there are bad ones just as there are bad humans and perhaps the worst thing is it gives people like yourself the chance to call the majority bad.No onethinks worse of them than other farmers.

I actually cant believe this. How incredibly cruel. I cant belive they were actually stamping on them and then grabbing their necks. People like this should be shot. It is for reasons like this that I dont eat meat. If you care about animal welfare, then you would go veggie too! I have seen way too many videos like this, and unfortuntely it seems to be the majority of farms that treat their animals like less than nothing. If you do choose to eat meat, make sure that it is from a good farm that cares about welfare and looks after their animals well.

there are bad ones just the same as some bad humans.

Just as bad they give people like yourself the chance to class the majority as bad.

  • Thank you all for your contributions and without generalisation I believe we all abhor this behaviour
