Were I live there are around 50ish yellowhammers come to the garden every day, they have come over winter for many years now and as there a rearer breed I was wondering if there is any special dietary, at the moment they eat the normal mixed seeds and nuts we put out for all the birds, but I wanted to make sure that this was enough.
Wow, lucky you. I'm not sure I've seen 50 yellowhammers in my whole life. I guess you must have open fields somewhere near you. As far as I know they are primarily seed eaters. If you are getting that number you must be doing the right thing.

We live in the country with fields all round us, there such funny things, they sit in the hedge and tree and watch us put the food out then all dive in as soon as were out the way, there ever so brave.
So lovely aren't they. Have you heard its song? 'Si si si si si buuuu!!'
'Dip a dee dah, dip a dee ay, we're not seeing any birds to-day...'
