It seems that NOTHING is being done to stop the DISASTER that is happening in Cyprus...

Shocking stuff!
This new forum is dreadful.
Horrifying isn't it! I'd never holiday there! Same as Malta!

This is such a shame as Cyprus is a great island for birds,we have been a couple of times watching raptors in the mountains and did not see any problems,I think the problem with trapping and shooting is confined mainly to the lowlands.I do feel more strongly about this now and am certainly giving Cyprus and Malta a miss as holiday destinations.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
The situation in both Malta and Cyprus is very distressing and we are working with our Birdlife partners in both countries to find a way to end this activity which is putting many species under threat.
However, rather than just boycotting the countries please consider supporting the relevant conservation groups in these countries, Birdlife Malta and Birdlife Cyprus. If you have chosen not to go to these countries please write to the respective governments, tourist boards and also Birldlife partners and tell them why you would not consider these places as tourist locations.
You can also add your name to the RSPB campaign to halt illegal bird killing and write to your MP.
