Successful heron release

Heron release from the Brent Lodge  Wildlife Hospital went beautifully this afternoon. Released an adult (originally brought in from the RSPCA) and a juvenile together tonight at the Mill Pond,  West Sussex. Adult was out first and rapidly followed by the juvenile who proceeded to stick like glue to the adult. They did a lap of the pond together, a second wider circuit and disappeared inland on the third circuit together. Hopefully the adult will teach the juvenile how not to get tangled up in netting! Apologies for the phots...it happened so quick- these guys did not want to wait around after lift off. Makes it all worth while. Very well done to Darren, Emma & fellow volunteers at the Brent Lodge for nursing them back from the point of no return- cant wait for the barn owl release. Cheers guys for the opportunity!
