hi there
I have to say other than 'Sir Peter Scott' my favourite story of all times. My own heroic conservationist has to be JOHN MUIR, the success story behind John Muir country Park, Dunbar situated the East Coast of Scotland.

This is one the places in Scotland that stands out to me for lots of reasons. I would say it is one of my favourite places to visit because of it sheer vastness and beauty. The area. the bird life and the colonies of terns that has been my joy to help over the years
Anyone else have a favourite conservationist who they admire for looking after an area of natural beauty, wildlife etc...
Love to hear what you have to say
Regards

Hi- this appeals to my sense of humour,
Sonny Bono ( of Sonny and Cher fame) went into politics and famously once moaned about all the endangered species and people spending loads to try and save them. After he died, they named the Salton Sea reserve in California after him.
It's a great place but stinking hot!

Hi Seymour
That is something I never knew about at all. ....the brush with nature that Sonny Bono had at all
It just shows if that famous people who are not interested in nature go too far, yes they are named and shamed in a different way.

Mine would have to be someone probably no one else would think of.Dave Sexton more or less devoted a lot of his life establishing the Sea Eagles on Mull giving lots of us pleasure and making quite a bit of money for Mull tourism and still a lovely humble person as well.
