Plans are under way to attempt to remove the non-native rats of Henderson island in the Pacific that are munching their way through the islands endemic (they don't breed anywhere else) Henderson Petrel. You can read more about this vital project on our website here.
If anyone can spare £600,000 (smaller amounts would be most gratefully received as well!) then this is a very important project that will hopefully save this species and give other threatened seabirds the chance to recover from near catastrophic losses.
Warden Intern at Otmoor.
This most be a mammoth task in trying to kill off all the rats in that these animals can breed so fast and can pretty much survive anywhere.
I really hope that they can pull this conservation project off.
