hi there
Does this not make you sick what lengths people will go for for a free profit.
This is what some people think is normality while animals are supposed to be protected in our UK Zoo's

Well to be honest when I saw this thread, I couldn't help clicking on it to read it and now that I have seen the clip, the person involved isn't a member of Colchester Zoo but merely a worker from the Abbatoir that poor Simba (spelling?) got sent to after his death.
This particular zoo is local to me and one I have visited many times and no doubt have even seen Simba when he was alive. I am relieved to hear that it wasn't the zoo who was the culprit in this case. It's a great zoo to go visit. I was lucky to be a zoo keeper for a day there as a birthday present and got to talk to alot of the keepers. I found they generally cared for the animals and talked about them with much love and respect. I would have been very disappoined to learn that this wasn't the case.

Hi Kemzo
I have changed the title a little. I did not want to go into the subject with 'Death' in the title - does not add any flavour to the thread.
It was a member of the abottoir who is the perpitrator in this case.
The staff at the Zoo where very upset about what this person had done to an animal that lived as part of the zoo family
I'm glad you changed the title of this thread, it would be wrong to blame the zoo when they clearly weren't responsible in any way, other than putting their faith in a company with underhand employees.
How interesting I actually thought you changed the title because you got it wrong!
No worries!!!
No, I did not make any mistakes as I heard this article on my local news 2 times today
I was alarmed when I saw the heading to this thread but very relieved to find that it has nothing to do with the Zoo but just a deceitful worker at the abatoir, who was caught.
EDIT, The heading was altered whilst I watched the video.
Hi Brenda
The Zoo trusted the abatoir to do their work, and one 'abatoir' worker had another agenda - sadly
Well he is paying his dues now for being caught with his fingers in the pie.
Hmmm.... Technically "Rhino horn smuggler not connected to Colchester Zoo" would have been a more accurate heading.
He should have got five years hard labour though.
Every day a little more irate about bird of prey persecution, and I have a cat - Got a problem with that?
LOL John,
Quite right, on both counts!!
Cheers, Linda.

Hi John
You are right the culprit should have got a few years in jail. The same applies with breaking the law.
That is the thing with any wildlife, the laws are not strict enough and taken seriously enough to convict people who do wrong to animals whether the animals are alive or dead.
Love to hear peoples opinion with the Rhino as it is the main theme of the news item. Simply add their thoughts about the issues attached to the incident. {smile}
