Just seen a lovely little piece on the local BBC about the increase of Dormice in Cheshire.
Chester Zoo have put up nest boxes in the trees to attract them to breed and are monitoring them.
Good news that numbers are increasing in South Cheshire.
They are soooooo sweet.

Hi Pipit,
I have to agree dormice are adorable little critters and this will certainly be a real boost for the Cheshire population. I would love to see one.
Though they are a nocturnal species and spend 3 quarters of their year asleep, the following reserves boast ideal habitat for dormice.

Hi Claire
Thank you so much for the extra information x
When I saw Garston Wood my heart leapt - for a nano second. We have an area of Liverpool called Garston but it was too good to be true that it would be the same Garston as in your link :(
Mind you, there is a Speke and Garston Coastal Reserve. Part of the old Speke (now John Lennon) Airport. There are lovely coastal walks to be had there and many, many wading birds and waterfowl. I saw my first Shelducks there a few months ago.
Thanks
