The RSPB are gathering the vote's for this years Nature of Farming Award to find the farmer. Tell us who you think should win – in return you could win a luxury stay at Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa. Our four finalists have worked incredibly hard to provide space for wildlife on their farms, so give them your support by casting your vote. It doesn’t take long and you’ll be supporting the vital work that these farmers, and others like them, are doing across the UK to ensure our farm wildlife has a place to call home. Without them, our countryside would be a poorer place.
Read profiles for each of the finalists and vote at www.rspb.org.uk/farmvote - yours could be the decider! The voting closes on the 27th August!!
It would also be interesting to hear about the wildlife on farms local to you. Do you have great farms for wildlife near you that are full of yellowhammers, skylarks and hares?
Hopefully lots more farmers will follow suit!
Hope you don't miss your farming days too much, Sooty! What sort of farm did you have?
Hi YellowWag we rented a dairy farm and having worked on farms for 17 years then rented a farm for 28 years we made provisions to retire at 60 if we wanted to and as the children not into farming and other reasons it made sense to retire then.Was a bit of a workaholic and dedicated but think because we made the decision about 3 years earlier we have never missed it which I think surprises everyone but we have now had 8 fantastic years to do things we did not have time for while farming.
Lots of farmers are getting into doing things for birds which the RSPB give lots of help with volunteers but it is hard to get that fact across.

Hi Richard J
Placed my vote now and it was really hard to choose from all four members at all.
They where all equal in their own unique ways, and they are all fantastic at what they do for nature
Took the 'Bull by the Horns' and did our thing here {big smile}
Regards
Kathy and Dave
Big thanks to all those who have voted so far. For those of you who haven't there is just a day left to win a trip to this amazing venue and help support these farmers who are doing all they can for the wildlife on their land. Lines close TOMORROW!!!! Its definitely more worthwhile than X Factor ;)
Hi Richard
Looking forward to see who is the winning farmer
Wonder if the winner will be a member from this Forum or elsewhere?
