I was innocently browsing through Twitter when the excellent Chris Packham highlighted this petition. Perhaps we can arrange for all the rabid hunting supporters to be absent from the ensuing debate.
It's currently standing at 4,970 signatures.
I'm adding a link to the petition to license driven grouse shooting even though I'd personally like to see it consigned to history. Licensing it is probably better than nothing at all.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I've had nothing since the 10,000 email. How curious.
No email here either Ian, have you deleted it?

Wendy, I have deleted it. Ian
I had an e-mail at 3.09am from the government today with waffle about grouse shooting but I did not have one when the petition passed 10,000.
Kind regards, Ann
Thanks Ann, that was about the time mine was sent. Ian
Now at 36,565.
Hi Clare, the deadline is 02 April 2018, I'm afraid it isn't going to reach 100,000 with about 3 weeks left. Ian
I know. You don't want to know how that makes me feel.
I am surprised that with over one million members in the RSPB alone that this hasn't gone higher. I don't think it is for me to speculate why (but I will a bit). Maybe it is just a lack of awareness or (as I think I said before) a complete lack of faith in the petitions system & the desire of our elected representatives to do anything about this. The Government response to the petition suggests they wouldn't be interested in doing anything about it & their reference to Natural England is surely a joke. Ian
