I'm Speechless - Bird Poacher From My Town!

Well I am totally speechless, a man from the other end of my town (thankfully!) has been done for poaching!  As soon as I saw his face I recognised him - he comes into work!

If he does come in again I hope I don't see him, I don't do keeping my mouth shut very well at times!

I just cannot understand what he got from it or why he done it.

  • Hi PaulE

Im glad that he was brought to book .

Still think he was let off way to lightly though.

    Thanks for putting that up.

    Cheers

If its no fun Yer no doin it right!

  • That is awful. Why would anyone want to do that? Was he selling them on or just keeping them as his own pets? I also find it disgusting that he got his sentence suspended. At least all the birds were released back to the wild unhurt when the RSPCA got involved, which is a blessing, but poor little things to have to suffer all that.

It is a good job he lives on the other side of town - you may just have done him some harm and ended up in court yourself!!!

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Hi Paul

Now that must have been a shock for you.

    Heck something else to be honest.{eek}

I think I would avoid him like the plague expect if he worked along with you - so you are safe from that at least.

What a situation to be in. I would not delve into the whys and just say he is not a nice person to know at all.

Just avoid him all together, and say nothing as it might not do you any justice.

I am sure that his work mates will find out via the press what he is really like - like knowing two different characters all together - one a work mate and another an evil wild bird napper.

Not a good thing at all

    Regards

  • Yes, it is awful, and like Sparrow I am completely baffled as to who and why?

I know in Victorian times it was very fashionable to keep goldfinches as pets in cages. Thank goodness we have learned some sense........................well occasionally.

    Kind regards Jane.

  • I can't understand why people would want to buy them either.  This isn't 100 years ago after all!

I agree Al, he got off too lightly,  But then again I think that's the case with most wildlife crimes, they're not taken seriously enough in the courts.  Yes I know there are murders, rapes etc, but the punishment for wildlife (or any animal crime for that matter) is barely a punishment, it seems to be mostly a fine!

Kathy - thankfully I don't work with him, news says he's a baker, I don't know where as I don't know that end of town.  But he does come into work as a customer, I never liked him to begin with (got screaming devil children) but now I have good reason!

I heard once someone caught a Sparrowhawk and was keeping it in their living room - I soon got that reported.  Apparently the guy wasn't "all the ticket"..suppose that means he got away with that too.

If he put money in my collection buckets when I collected for the RSPB he can have it back!  Don't want money off his kind!

    hi Paul

At least you have sussed the man out for the type of person that he really is

Better to give him a wide berth now - and yes there are some really nasty people about too.

Just the way of the world now

    Take care

    Regards
