Chinese Taxidermy on ebay

I'm hoping I can ask everyone here to write to ebay and ask them to enforce their policy on selling taxidermy as I have noticed a very large amount of stuffed birds being sold there such as this Bullfinch. These are not antiques but freshly killed specimens. If you go onto ebay and search for taxidermy/birds you can use the REPORT button which is halfway down the page on the right -to report these birds. Ebay has the following policy regarding taxidermy - Allowed - Mounted Mallard ducks or other waterfowl that were captive-bred Eggs, feathers, parts, or specimens from captive-bred game birds such as a grouse, pheasant, quail, or turkey NOT ALLOWED - Migratory bird eggs, feathers, nests, parts, or specimens. Examples of birds include cranes, ducks, eagles, geese, hawks, hummingbirds, owls, shorebirds, seabirds, songbirds, and wading birds. See the Migratory Bird Treaty Act for a complete list of protected birds. Native American items with feathers or other parts of protected birds. The Migratory treaty act list does seem a little behind the times, and several species I've found on Ebay should really be on the list eg Middendorf's Grasshopper Warbler considering for example Dusky Warbler is - http://www.fws.gov/migratorybirds/Re...a/mbtandx.html So I am 'disappointed' to find the following species for sale quite openly during a very brief trawl this evening. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Taxidermy-for-asia-bird-HN-/281623973810?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item419218cfb2
  • I collect taxidermy and they normally have the paper work if they are new but if they are antique they don't need them. they also might be foreign or done in other country's were the laws are not in force. a bit of taxidermy comes from France. if you have any more question I am happy to answer
