removal of coal spoil tip

Help, a mining firm wants to remove a coal spoil tip near to where I live. the tip forms part of a dene and there are numerous bird, and other wildlife species, that live near the spoil tip. the firm has carried out audits on wildlife and birds and they say there is no threatened species but surely just disturbing the landscape like this is going to have a negative effect on any wildlife not just on the tip but the area that surrounds it. Any advice from anyone on where to go for info and/or help? thank you.
  • Hi alan, thank you for reply.

They have stated they will landscape the area which is nice but there is no reason to remove the tip in the first place.   It's only being done for profit.   And my personal feelings are why change what we have already.   The tip has been there for over a hundred years and the dene has taken it over.   If you were walking past you wouldn't even know it was there.   I will certainly try and find out about local birding groups.  Thank you.
