according to this months BB, a lammergeier poisoner got a hefty fine and 18 months in jail in Spain - obviously wasnt a Scottish judge :))

    Hi Seymour

Good.  Great news, as it looks although Spain is taking cruelty to animals to another level

Maybe the poisoner should get a dose of his own medicine.

Just shows that the UK legal system need to get their act together.

  • I don't understand why anyone would want to kill a lammergeier, as 90% of their diet is bone marrow from already dead animals, so firstly, I am so glad this person was firmly dealt with.  Maybe our own judges should take heed and hopefully follow Spain's example in this case.

well said, seymouraves.  I wonder whether the set up of the Spanish (or other countries') justiciary is as class dominated as ours, with judges being so cut off from the real world.  Now that the offender is becoming intimately acquainted with 'Juan Miguel' his new best friend in the cells, I also wonder whether he thinks it was worth it?

Seriously, it proves that significant sentences can be handed down without society collapsing in on itself.  There may be hope for us.

    I even love magpies

    Hi Johnny

Yes, judges are on another planet to the normal everyday person,  It makes me think if they are willing to expand their workload to include wildlife crimes

That remains to be seen in the UK.

  • Yes good news but strange when they are so cruel with bullfighting and think in one ceremony they perhaps kill a donkey.
