Now that the UK Osprey season is about to kick off, I'm transferring over from the LG Forums (link set at hatch page) this beautiful Great Horned Owl couple, who are nurturing a single owlet. I think that the female is the same one whom I followed here (in a different tree, as Hurricane Matthew intervened) several years ago - she has a squint (at the very least) in her left eye.
The owlet is coming along great, here was its tea yesterday, when it seemed to manage the whole of a rat-tail but we never quite saw the tip go down:
IMAGICAT
Very good effort by Owlet once Mama had prepared the frog:
Little Owlet has started travelling
(Thumbnails not working on YT at the mo but this plays fine.)
Owlet goes into defence mode like a grown-up - we could see the threat on any of the 3 cams but heard an Osprey chippikng:
Anotther close-up and the first meal of the evening delivered:
The second meal was a Squirrel. I can't remember when I last saw Dad, can't find him since 04 March morning but maybe I missed him.
Scylla, on the Landings Bird Cam - Savannah Fb page 6 hours ago, someone asked if dad was helping out. Landings BC replied 5 hours ago 'Yes, at 19:05 yesterday evening'.
Fab videos, thank you :)
Owlet has long legs! No prey during the evening, still not seen Dad, we await further developments.
I've got bogged down with other things but I can say that, after a scary drought of parents and prey for nearly EIGHT hours, Owlet got fed - big frog from Mama and rat from Dad !!!

Got my knickers in a twist there - it wasn't nearly that bad. But both Mama and Dad did deliver, Dad first
OMG !!! I hope this wasn't Dad that she brought in for dindins It was a very large bird but I couldn't see a head and can't ID it from the feathers.
