Great Horned Owl = mainly each other at nesting time, and peregrine falcons have been known to target them - and us, of course. Did you see the Hawk attack a while ago? Owlet = any predatory bird and squirrels etc.
Cirrus said:Super goldie birdie :) shouldn't it be Crossbeak really do you think?
I assume it's gros from "big". And this one is French Canadian, after all
A good start to today, when Dad flew in before daycam with a small rodent - owlet is at the bolt-upright stage now

Just before nightcam so very low-res - facing the wrong way but kindly turned its head just enough:
A wet night:
The day stayed damp, there was a feed but she didn't let us see it:
Not much food seen after that rainy day, but owlet has pin feathers!
01 March
Some worried watchers will be pleased to see 2 prey items later in the day, and the owlet's eyes opened!
Closeups of Mama and Owlet, mainly for YouTube watchers:
Boreal Ontario - cutdown Ruffed Grouse from 3+ minutes - it had been there the day before but this time was early in the morning, unusual - and 2 Pine Grosbeaks "scared" it off! (It was back again in the evening.)
Last Boreal Ontario - reluctantly discontinued in the run-up to the new UK Osprey season.
In preparation for the arrival of our precious Ospreys - I've transferred the Great Horned Owl family to Wildlife on the Web where I shall continue with it as long as I can manage
The owlet is doing very well!
