Hi, I have a camera in a nesting box which was used at the start of the season. Nest built by blue tits and a successful family hatched and left the nest - wonderful to have the camera and to watch
the last week I’ve seen a blue tit enter the nest at about 18:30 hours and sleep all night, leaving at about 7am. It’s the end of August now and I didn’t think they had a second family in a year - is it normal for blue tits to use old nests for sleepovers?
thank you
It is indeed quite normal for Blue Tits to roost overnight in bird boxes, if you're lucky then it may stay over Winter! It's also quite usual for one to roost in a bare box after old nesting materials are cleaned out, won't bother to take in any new materials!
