I'm starting to read more reports of avian flu outbreaks, and was thinking it might be a wise idea for us to share any reports we come across to help those new and still learning about our wonderful wildlife.

Plus one I posted a while back

If it's felt a bad idea, I'll can it here and now.

Just had an email to say that Martin Mere WWT in Lancashire has been temporarily closed to the public in order to protect their resident and incoming migrants from bird flu, another update due on Monday. it appears to be the only WWT that is closed in UK.

Sadly I fear that could be the first of many reserves.

Though this thread has been active since November 2021, (avian flu has been with us a lot longer), it still is active, and can still be used to share reports of avian flu.
Yesterday, 5th January 2023, I received a DEFRA letter, which you can read about in: "Avian Flu and DEFRA Letter"
Avian flu is still very prevalent, and currently, not showing any sign of abating any time soon, this thread can still be used to share any reports of avian flu that you come across, and do not worry if it has been reported already, it may be so far back it can easily be overlooked.
I will add, if you're not sure if a report has been logged with DEFRA, then do not hesitate to contact DEFRA using the following lnk:
