I'm starting to read more reports of avian flu outbreaks, and was thinking it might be a wise idea for us to share any reports we come across to help those new and still learning about our wonderful wildlife.
A link from the .GOV.UK pages to peruse: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/avian-influenza-bird-flu
Avian flu case confirmed in swan on Solway Coast

Plus one I posted a while back
More cases of bird flu confirmed in Wales, this time at nature reserve

If it's felt a bad idea, I'll can it here and now.

Germain said:I agree Mike, for the water fowl it's also not helped by the drought - more birds are congregating at the limited water sources - seabirds are joining up with the geese flocks to bath and rest on the reservoirs. I'm holding a serious debate with myself about not putting out feeders - at the moment the don't feed side is winning but I'm not sure how I will feel in the depths of winter
It is a difficult decision, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

You beat me to it with Cornwall.
Hopefully, leg permitting, I'll be down there the end of this month on holiday, with my wife, and had been watching the news feeds on this. I will, where sensibly possible, tread carefully, though a great many places, like Penzance, will be full of gulls.

No worries about stealing my thunder, I'd rather see multiple posts than none, plus, I may not have seen it.
I do wonder how much of the sudden spread is due to it being peak holiday season and Cornwall having such a high footfall during August.
Both me and my wife will sensibly make the best of our holiday, and monitor the Avian Flu situation once we're down there, and it will determine what places we visit and which we don't.
