Having attempted to shot some photo's of the Long-tailed Tits a few weeks ago, I returned to have another go!
Altering the settings on the camera to see if I could get some better shots!!!
Here are some of the shots I took.
I was here first! Ok I don't mind sharing!

Nature Is Amazing - Let Us Keep It That Way
Hi Buzzard
What great pics, i've not been able to get any of the long tail tits, they too fast and only do a fly and grab, they do like to play in the trees, i'm hoping in the nice weather (if it ever gets here) to set up somthing at the bottom of my garden so I can sit there and try to get some nice pics.
My long tail only go for sunflower seeds. not seen them on the fat balls.
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Hi Buzzard, lovely shots. I do so like LTTs, they are sweet little birds and I think they look like lollipops on sticks!
Am I right in thinking this is a new camera? I guess you must have told us all about it when I was away in Australia and if you did I'm afraid I missed it. What sort of camera is it and how close were you to get these shots?
I keep thinking I might set up some sort of one-woman hide in the garden to get closer to the feeders and the adjacent lilac tree but I fear the neighbours would send the men in white coats round!!!
There is something new to learn everyday...

WOW!!!!! Brilliant photos Buzzard. Absolutely stunning. I think I'm going to cry.........
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

Hi SB, It was about Christmas time when I decided to up date and upgrade my Camera and Kit.
I didn't want to spend thousands of £££££££ so opted for a camera that a few years old on todays market!
I read about Nikon and Canon and a few others, I opted for an Olympus E500.
According to the reviews that I read when it came on the market about two years ago, it was a excellent camera been very light for it's size.
I have purchased some additional lenses, the olympus 70-300mm been the latest that I bought in January.
The next lense is about 5k which is way out of my price range.
After speaking with the chap I met when photgraphing the Ring-necked Duck, he really made my day when I found out, that even with over 10k worth of kit he couldn't get that much closer with his super lense.
The only advantage he had was his camera was a 18 mega pixel and his lense had a converter which gave him much clearer, sharper photo's and brought the subject a little closer.
I always thought the guys with these huge lenses could bring the birds to the end of their noses!
He told me you would need to digi-scope to bring birds that are a long way off.
As far as the distance ideally I'm six to eight feet away, although it can be further. The thing that I learnt from him was making sure that the camera settings are set up for the conditions.
I have been a bit hit and miss with the exposure and other settings, he gave some great advice which I was very grateful for.
Hopefully I will get better and start to understand what I need to do to get nice sharp shots!
I'm happy with what I'm doing and hopefully everyone is enjoying the shots as I am!
Wow again Buzzard. Brilliant shots, and so clear. I love the pinks on the LTTs. I'm with Squirrel ... I'm going to cry!
Cheers, Linda.

Great photos, love the LTT - thanks for sharing them.
A bit worried though about the netted fatballs - take it these aren't in your garden?

Hi Kezmo, no this isn't in my garden! My fat balls are placed in proper feeders.
I'm not sure if the reserve staff are aware of the fatballs and the risks they bring!
I don't know if they're been hung up by members of the public? who want close up photo's.
I take my own seed that I put on tree stumps etc. so I can get close up photo's.
Thanks for the concern, I will speak with the reserve staff when I go again.
Really knew it wouldn't be in yours but I felt compelled to comment! Surprised as you are that they should be found in a reserve though.
Good idea I must say about taking your own seed with you for getting better closeups - it's something I will do in the future. Have a bag full of unwanted safflower for a start that I'm trying to get rid of :-)
Oh Buzzard, they are brilliant photographs and every detail is so clear.
Fantastic shots Amongst the very best I have seen - Well done
