Hi all
Yesterday finally got to visit Castle water at Rye harbour nature reserve to see if I could get some half decent photo's of the bittern there. Weather was good and there was a good numbers of wildfowl about, the cormorants were starting to get the nests ready bringing new twigs to add to the nests. Also seen besides the bittern, were Quantities of greylag and canada geese, shelduck, widgeon, gadwall, large quantity of shoveler, teal, little grebe, unfortunately no sing of the drake smew, and plenty of tufted ducks, marsh harriers we seen quatering the reed beds plus many more of birds of the regular species.
Regards Derek
Hi NandW
Great photos of the Bittern. Never managed to get close enough to get good shots.
Funnily enough I saw one fleetingly at Lavell's Lake in Berkshire only yesterday but as you will see too far away to get a good photo.

Nature Is Amazing - Let Us Keep It That Way
Wow! Great photos NandW and TeeJay. Very well done as they are such a brilliantly camouflaged bird when in the reed beds.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Good shots both of you. I was hoping to see one yesterday at Minsmere but unlucky.
Regards
Kerry
