Hi there

I went for a walk this morning and I was delighted to hear, and see two Goldcrests at Russell Park at Bedford.

They where happily moving around an evergreen tree.

Love their circular little tunes

Made me smile

Spring must be on the way now {big smile]

  • Hi Blackbird,

    Well done for seeing the goldcrests. I have only ever seen one, on an RSPB reserve. So tiny you could easily miss them.

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Hi Blackbird,

    congratulations on spotting the Goldcrests!  Lovely little birds aren't they?  I'd imagine them to be much more timid given their size but they're full of character.

  • Hi Paul,

    Have you still got yours?

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Hi Sparrow,

    I'm not sure to be honest as I haven't spent a lot of time recently watching the comings and going of my garden birds.  With the Goldcrest you really have to be paying attention as they're easily missed.

  • Well done Kathy. We have never seen one in this garden, but used to see a few in our prevous one. Would love to see them again.

    Thanks everyone.

    The Goldcrests made me smile, and I love to hear their tune even above a lot of children yelling/playing at the local park.

    I have reported seeing these birds to my local Bedford group.

    They have a very high pitch tune, and I am sure that some people will find it hard to hear them.

    Brenda: Oh they like the feeders if given a chance.  Wonder why you do not have them at the moment.  i thought that the cold weather would bring them out of their shells and they would pay a visit or two.  Sadly we have never had them in our garden yet {sad}

    OH has mentioned that we go for a long walk around Rriory Park, Bedford or Grafham/Rutland Water and see what birds are around and I will write a report and post it here as always.  The weather is supposed to be good at the weekend, so we will see {cannot wait to get out and about}

    Nearly completed my Marston Vale report..... will post on the RSPB.other wildlife Forums asap (just been busy with other important things like our holiday things!)

    Regards

    Well done on spotting the goldcrests.  They're such delightful wee birds.

    Paul.

    Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.
