Hunstanton Norfolk winter walk.

Here's a winter walk idea.

Walk from Hunstanton Lighthouse, checking the sea from the cliffs, skirt the putting green by the road and walk East around the coast past Old Hunstanton, along the beach past the bathing huts and the FP along the edge of the Golf course to Holme. Turn inland by the public loos and then walk into the Holme NWT eserve, following the boardwalk until after a mile and a half it turns inland to Thornham where there is a good pub.

Possible spp. include  merganser, eider, scoter, fulmar, turnstone, knot, bar tailed godwit,  Snow bunting,  stonechat, yellowhammer, skylark, barn owl, brent goose, twite, marsh harrier, peregrine,

:)

  • hi Seymouraves

Hunstanton is one of our favourite patches.

Last time we went there where lots of Turnstones in groups wandering over the beach area.  They where not in the slightest worried about human presence at all and we got some nice pictures of them.

Still need to investigate the cliff area, as I understand there is a Kittewake collony there.

    Regards

    Hi,

I think the Kittiwakes are long gone as breeders. I haven't seen any in a long while there.
