Fen Drayton gravel Pits

Hi,

I just saw FDGP listed as a good winter water. :)

It's a great Spring site as well. I'd recommend  mid April to Mid May . I haven't been for a couple of years but on  the last trip I had Black tern, Hobbies, Red necked Grebe and loads of Lesser whitethroats.

One hint- you can get caught by showers a long way from the  cover of a hide here .:)

  • Hi Seymouraves

    I have had this exact site recommended to me for a visit .

    It is not too far from Bedford, so must try to visit in spring like you have mentioned here.

    Regards

  • Hi

    just re-visited FDGPs;

    Lots of work been done and a new main car park which the Sat Nav refused to find-

    Good birds - Scaup, Goldeneye, Treecreeper, visible Cetti's  but

    NO PORTALOO!!
