Tree Sparrow Feeding Frenzy

Over the last few weeks I have been out and about on occassional days visiting some of my old haunts.

I called in at one local nature reserve and got some great shots of a wide range of birds, but in particular I was so pleased to see at least 60 Tree Sparrows, having a feeding frenzy.  These birds are another species on the Redlist.

I watched them for hours, the constanst chattering was brilliant. The weather was pretty poor so the photo's are not brilliant as I had to use a smaller lens.

Three identical feeders full of Tree Sparrows.

I will be posting more threads about some of the amazing sights that I have witnessed and managed to capture.

Regards Buzzard

Nature Is Amazing - Let Us Keep It That Way

  • Hi Buzzard.

Those are great pictures.  It's wonderful to see so many tree sparrows.  We don't get these birds in my area, so seeing those pictures is a real bonus.  Thanks for posting them.

    Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Wow what a sight! I get excited about six in one go here. Thanks for this.

For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.

  • Hi Buzzard

Now that is what I call a fabulous, gregarious, large selection of Tree sparrows.

I wonder how many there where on the associated feeders.

Oh, I am so jealous seeing all of that, and simply the numbers of the birds are breathtaking to see.

    Thank you for sharing.

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Buzzard, they are a joy to see. We see them in the local hedgerows but never in our garden. Thank you.

  • What a wonderful sight of a rare bird and so many!  I love sparrows, their constant chattering to one another.  I had some tree sparrows but they seem to have moved on although I still have the house sparrow in great numbers.

  • Hi Buzzard, brilliant photos. What a wonderful sight. I have just this minute photographed a small bird with a brown head which was perched on my trellis. I only got the one photo, and then from the back so whether it was a tree sparrow or something else I don't know. I may well yell for help later on, once I have the photo on my pc!

The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.

The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

  • Excellent pics and what a wonderful sight! Thanks for sharing!!

  • What a wonderful sight. It is lovely to see so many. I don't get them in my garden, and have seen very few in this area. Excellent photos Buzzard.

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Wow great pics, so many

Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!

  • Fantastic photos!  It must be simply breathtaking to see so many Tree Sparrows in one place.  :o)
