Hi there
Has anyone seen a Waxwing (s) close to where they stay, or elsewhere?
I have never managed to see any yet, and would love to do so
Scotland seems to be a better bet, unless someone knows different {wink}

Hi Kathy,
this link will show some areas were Waxwings have been sighted. You may have some travelling to do if you want to see them.

Not great numbers being reported at all this year so far. The berry crop on teh continent is obvioulsy plentiful this year so they have no need to travel. Their arrival does seem cyclical doesn't it. Great numbers for a couple of years and then nothing or very little for a few seasons. Not too late yet for them to arrive though.Fingers crossed
Buzzard: Thank you for your link
Speak of the devil... 2 Waxwings have been seen in Bedford today. It might be the start of a Waxwing invasion at last {lots of wishful thinking}
Susan: I feel the same way as yourself, and look forward to seeing Waxwings soon. Just hope the bad weather has not affect their sense of direction too much.
Hi,
a few sporadic records of waxwing in Norfolk today :)

Wow they are nice birds, no chance of them any where near me then. :-(
Thanks Buzzard.
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Just had a look at Buzzard's link. What gorgeous birds. Never seen one. Looking at the distribution it seems they prefer the eastern side of the country so no chance here.
Cheers, Linda.

I'm up in Scotland and I have yet to see any :-( I always keep my fingers crossed though!

Waxwings are very habitat specific, look for large open tarmac spaces with scattered cars, shoppers and imported berry trees. :))
Signs such as ASDA, PCworld, B&Q , Tesco etc seem to attract them in city centres.
