Wrens

Hi there

Dave opened our patio doors this morning, and a Wren was perched right by the door

How cute seeing one so close up and personal.

They must be feeling the cold at this time of the year.

Extra feeding comes to mind.

Makes us think of these little birds a lot

Regards

Kathy and Dave

  • Sweet! Hope it will be ok! I'm sure there are many birds suffering around the more 'rural' parts (Wales / Scotland in particular) of the UK!

  • Hi Blackbird,

    How lovely for you.

It does make us think about the birds more when the weather is as it is. My lunchtime pied wagtail visit made me really worry that birds not normally associated with gardens and feeders must be really suffering.

    Cheers, Linda.

  • We arrived home yesterday afternoon to find a poor dead chaffinch to the side of the front door, in the porch. We couldn't see any marks, so don't know why it died. So glad your wren was fine.

  • Sweet story about the Wren, I can imagine he/she has landed on an excellent garden for food :o)  I can imagine the excitement to see one so close!

Its good to see all the unusual visitors to the garden at this time of year, but yes it does make me worry a bit too as they don't all come off so lucky.  Its something that is always at the back of the mind, but we all shall continue to do our bit and help 'our' birds through what seems like its going to be a tough winter.

    :o)

  • Hello,

I love wrens and for the past few weeks I have seen three (and today 4) wrens coming to sleep in our house martins' nest above the door. Lovely to know that in this cold they keep each other warm!!!!

I'm so sorry about your chaffinch. It must have been very upsetting for you to find him like that. Let's hope there aren't any more.

I don't see many wrens round here, just the odd one. Lovely little birds.

    Cheers, Linda.
