I went out for a walk on Sunday afternoon the 20th December to do some shopping at Tesco’s at Riverside Drive. It was a great day with sun, and blue skies.. so ideal for taking photographs. It was very cold and, icy so I had to be careful with the footing and watch where I was walking – it was quite lethal underfoot
My walk included a walk along the footpath close to Barkers Lane – the public footpath heading towards to back of Tesco’s. Lots of bird species where moving about here there and everywhere. A flock of Long Tail tits moved along from Tree to Tree. The Starlings sat fluffed up and tried to outsing each other in the trees. All of the birds seen to be on the move to keep warm, and who can blame them.
It was great to see lots of bird species, and I took a few pictures of the birds in question, and found some good ‘picture’ opportunities. The only thing was I could not walk quietly on the crunchy ice and snow and the birds heard me before they saw me LOL. We can only try to do our best not to disturb what we are trying to photograph.
Great to meet another birder, and ‘hello’ to you, while I was taking pictures of the Long Tailed Tits. I hope that we meet in the future at one point or another.
Anyway I have posted pictures that where taken on the day.

Lovely pictures - it was a great day for photography wasn't it? So clear and crisp with a lovely blue sky. I regularly visit Priory Park so know this part well. A few years ago a flock of waxwings spent several weeks in this area. They were particularly fond of the berried bushes in Tesco's car park. So far this winter, very few have appeared so they are clearly finding enough food elsewhere. There's still time though for them to appear so watch out for them next month. I do love to see them!
Watch out for swifts
Kathy, lovely set of photographs again. We don't see starlings much around here, except maybe on a 'flying visit '. We didn't chance leaving the house last Sunday.
Valo, great to hear about the waxwings but that is one bird I have never seen and would dearly love to.
Hello.Lovely set of pictures, Kathy. That sounds like it was a brilliant walk.Paul
