Walked around the old racecourse this morning, hoping to see short-eared owls. The sky was bright at first, but looking over to Arran and up the valley it was black,. and coming in fast A very quiet ambience fell over the place. Lots of wildfowl on the river and in the harbour but soon our sense of sight, as we walked around was inhibited with a thick fog. Kestrels buzzard stonechat, wren blackbirds robins, mistlethrush, were seen ,as were lots and lots of silhouettes. alas, again, no shorteared owl but they are there. Dog walkers had seen them earlier. Its a wee while since we've seen any. Was good to get back indoors what with tingling finger tips, cold knees, sniffling noses and burning cheeks. Brill.
Ooh that sounds like a lovely walk Susan! I love crisp cold days, although better with the sun of course! Another great list of birds seen, but a shame you didn't see the short eared owls! Maybe next time!! :-)

Hello Susan.
That sounds like a lovely walk, what a brilliant list of birds. It's a shame you didn't see a short-eared owl but I'm sure you'll see one soon.
