hi there
Just thought I would show people pictures of our endearing little flock of Sparrows which are living in the hedge in the front area of our garden.
We sit in the front room, and we can see the birds sitting on top of the hedge in a row looking into the house. I have counted 12 of them together in the ons flock,
Each morning I wait up to all their little churps. I open the front room curtains, and there they are sitting on top of the bush waiting for me to feed them. So cute.
Regards
Kathy and Dave
Kathy, what a lovely start to the day. Great photos.
Blackbird
Aren't they just wonderful characters? Thugs, but endearing and entertaining. The clowns of the bird world, and so cheerful. Your pics are great, and you have spurred me on to show you mine. (please don't laugh at the quality of the photo - I do my best!!!) I have a colony of between 35 and 40 who spend most of the day in my hedge with their own special feeder. Difficult to say exactly how many, but I believe the majority of them are this years' fledglings and I have watched them develop since Spring, changing from fat, fluffy things to handsome teenagers on the look out for a mate..
There are always some at the top of the hedge acting as look-outs. They stand tall like soldiers. In my own defence, the photo was taken from an upstairs window, probably not as clean as it ought to be!
Cheers, Linda.

Sparrow, that is a lovely photograph. Thanks for showing us.
Brenda ... you are too generous, but thank you anyway!
Sparrow - you worry too much! The photo is just fine and it's great to see the sparrows all lined up on lookout duty. I have a little flock of about five or six but they are quite shy at the moment and elude my camera! They were on the feeders this morning but I was in a rush and couldn't stop and watch them. They are great little characters.

Thank you for your really kind replies everyone. I really hope as time goes by I will be able to get closer to my birdy friends yet.
Sparrow: As SB has said all pictures are great to show others and they are well worth posting for that reason alone, SB just spend time with Sparrows (talk to them - I do!) and they soon get used to you being around them
Camera work takes a lot of practice. Birds can fidget a lot so it is good that you have a row of Sparrows sitting on top of a bush and that is clear to us here.
So, good shot from yourself Sparrow {smile}
Blackbird, I already have a reputation around here for being 'batty' (lol!) so if I start talking to birds I think they'll send for the men in white coats!!!
Thanks everyone for being kind about my photo - one of these days I will surprise everyone, not least myself, and produce a good shot!
LOL Sarum Bat!
Blackbird is right about talking to the birds. I do it all the time and I could swear some of them are listening! As I said on Blackbird's "Blackbird" thread, we all talk to our domestic pets, so why not our wild ones?
Great to see lots of 'spadgers! (I wonder how many different names these birds have!). I saddens me when there are reports of declining numbers. It's reassuring to see and hear of good flocks around the country! I certainly have a good 30 or so visiting the garden! Their favourite hide out in the front garden is the Barberry! :-)
