While walking along the river today I saw a two pairs of crows battling it out! They were trying to force each other down into the water, and one got a dunking but fortunately managed to get back into the air otherwise he would have been swept away by the current and that would probably have been the end of him! They were really having a go at each other, two shouting from one tree and two shouting from the other tree. But why would they be fighting? I see crows in the park all the time and there are several pairs that don't seem to bother each other (and they are definately crows, not rooks!). They wander round in a loose group and although there is an occassional argument, i've never seen anything like this! Why all of a sudden would they try to drown each other? Has the recent cold spell made them a bit more territorial than usual? Is the lack of kids littering the park making foraging scarce? Or did the crow being dunked just need a bath?
