We got a soaking yesterday morning at the above. But it was definitely worth it. Lots of Greenshank, Redshank, Wigeon Teal Golden Eye Mallard Heron and all other suspects but I was enthralled at the male mergansers displaying and showing off to the females. It was quite a show. They got quite vicious with each other at times. I love the way the ladies just paddle by so nonchantly. Good numbers, well into double figures.
Susan.sounds like an ideal place to visit, but I will have to look exactly where it is. I don't think it is too far away from my brother-in-law. He may be due for a visit soon. You definitely timed it right to watch the mergansers.
Hi Susan, what a fantastic variety of birds you saw there. It sounds a wonderful place to visit, even in the rain ☺
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Hi Susan
You definitely had good even with the rain - did you manage to get any photos at all?
Regards
Kerry

No it was such a dull morning that we didn't bother with the cameras, I only have a wee digi usually stuck in my pocket just for minders, but OH hadn't taken his either. Typical.
It does indeed sound like a great day! Shall be looking it up too!

Its just a really small lagoon at Clydeport, Seamill, near Largs North Ayrshire. some days are better than others
Nothing much to report from Lagoons this morning, not much about at all, oystecatcher, dab chicks mallard, teal an odd merganser, but just along the road at Southannan sands there was a little egret, and one whooper , looked like it was being accepted by the mutes. Lots of wildfowl, huge numbers of shelduck. and huges flocks of chaffinch seemingly falling from the trees to feed on maize stubble. stood watching for a while, to check there was no brambling in along with them, alas not, Blowy day on the coast. Layers were the order of the day
Sounds like a super place to visit, Susan even if the weather was less than ideal and you were lucky to see the mergansers. Yet another place to add to my visit wish list.
There is something new to learn everyday...
