Thrilled to bits today as I saw a bittern at Loch of Kinnordy! It has been spotted over the last few days and one wintered at the reserve last year so fingers crossed this one will be sticking around.

Brill! I will be there first chance I get. please keep us up to speed on where best to find it etc.

For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
I too will be back asap - hopefully mid week. Last week saw Marsh Harrier at Loch of Kinnordy being mobbed by the crows
One Life - Live It!!
Great news, and I will love to hear if anyone catches a glimpse of the Bittern {thumbs up}

As well as the bittern being seen for a second time yesterday there were stunning views of two female sparrowhawks and a female hen harrier hunting over the reedbed, a couple of people also caught a glimpse of water rail.
There doesn't seem to be a particular spot for the bittern to be seen, but the Gullery (middle) hide is the most likely place to see it from.
With Whooper swans just down the road & redwing and fieldfare passing through winter is definitely approaching. Remember to look up when walking the paths to see red squirrel, flocks of bullfinch (11 in 1 flock yesterday), siskin and possibly goldfinch.
If you are around early on a calm morning look out for bearded tit feeding on the reed seed heads...and of course let us know if you do see them!
Sounds fantastic LoK local! Did you take any pics?
Tell it to stay put I'll be there thursday! ;-)
There were reports of the bittern again yesterday, apparently it was out feeding.
Good to hear the bittern is still around!
