Hope you see it Richard. We saw one about five years ago on the Dee eastuary, Wirral. It stayed around for about four days.

For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
Sandy Heath (not a heath anymore) is an area of agricultural land, adjacent to RSPB Headquarters at The Lodge in Bedfordshire. Plenty of birders here, so the sighting will be checked out at lunchtime I suspect!

If it is a hoopoe, surely it's migrating in the wrong direction? I've only seen them reasonably close, on Lanzarote last winter.
