Not strictly wildlife, but thought I would share some photos I was lucky to have the opportunity to take of a black barn owl. This owl belongs to a friend that shows them to raise awareness etc....
The photos don't really do her justice!!
Isn't she stunning!

Can't see those MarJus!
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
That's better! ;-)
How about now Squirrel? Have re-uploaded them....
Got them now. Most unusual - I take it you don't live near a colliery ☺ ☺ ☺ Seriously though, I have never seen colouring like that in a Barn Owl before - is it a rare occurrence?
Yes it is rare. As far as I know, it is a mutant gene that throws up a dark bird once in a while. Having said that, this particular bird (Shadow) was bred from 2 dark parents!
MarJus.... I hate to tell you this but.....
Oh! I can see them still...
Beautiful photographs! I thought you were on the orange sheep trail again for a moment! Its face is absolutely fantastic.
What a beautiful bird. Great pics as always :)
