Limpy and I made a return visit to Mull earlier this year. It felt as though we had unfinished business there, due to the fact a boat trip we'd booked last year had to be called off due to the weather. This year we were in luck, and it went ahead. These are my best shots from what was a magical three hours:

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

As joyful as it was to see the magnificent eagles they were far from the only species of bird we photographed. Knowing that this particular boat had a habit of throwing fish to the eagles, a far more familiar species of bird lost no time in pursuing the boat:
I might have previously mentioned that I love herring gulls!
This was probably the best possible environment for snapping these birds - they are so beautiful in flight, and their flying skills were well worth watching here.

Herring gulls, though, weren't the only gulls around .........
A few common gulls were using their smaller size to good advantage!
I was delighted to see a fair number of these beautiful gulls around Mull in the week we were there.
