Red-backed Shrike at the Martello Tower ........ with a few additions.

It's always joyful when you not only hear about repeated sightings of a scarce bird - you get to see and photograph it too!  This particular shrike was near the 'Y' Martello tower between Bawdsey and Hollesley and it was being very obliging:

If only birding could always feature this obliging a bird ..... but then I suspect the challenge is good for us!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Lovely set of photos Clare, the first one of the wee Red Backed Shrike could also go into your competition? I don't know what they look for in a photo but that one is so nice with colour of the bird, foilage, berries.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
