I recently came across a couple of bird feeders in a clearing in some woodlands. The people who fill the feeders told me that they have Great Spotted Woodpecker drop by regularly to eat fat balls. So I decided to wait. It duly arrived and I got some decent shots. It didn't stay long though, I think it was very wary of me but fantastic to see it.
Nice shot. They are smart looking birds. Worth checking out later in the year because the adults often bring their young to the same feeders they use.
What a lovely photo opportunity.
