very short actually....about 1.5 seconds! I'm sat on the Virgin train from Liverpool to London and as we pass Liverpool South Parkway, up on the cable gantry sits a long-eared owl. A bit of a surprise that. For one they are pretty shy, and another, I've only ever seen them in natural settings (trees,fields, etc). This one was completely unphased by several tons of train flying past. In fact it made me wonder whether it was stuffed!! Perhaps it is some Railtrack operative's idea of amusement :-)
