Chris and myself are hoping to get out onto one of the Scottish islands later this year, probably September. One island I have not visited, even when I worked in Scotland for a short while, is the island of Islay. Has anyone any experience of the island for birding ? as usual in our outings raptors will be the main target birds but any island usually has goor sea birds even if many will have left the nest ledges when we are planning to go. We have spent time in Dumfries and Galloway in the last two years but are hoping to be a little more adventurous while I am still up for it. Any info would be useful.

Wow Seaman going on that report from S you will be in for a real treat on your coming visit to Islay. Don't forget we will be expecting a load of photos when you return:-)
Lot to learn
We were leading a walk/birdwatch for our club today and two members had been to the island and their reports were pretty good as well so I think Chris is up for it not sure if the nine single malts has anything to do with it. I have got the job of working the logistics out so I may be testing peoples brain power even more. Sorry photos will be thin on the ground as my compact is very limited and Chris uses her phone most of the time,I might suggest an adapter to fit phone to scope.
Thanks for the link Seymour
