Sunset at Felixstowe Ferry

After a sweltering afternoon on Minsmere's reception I decided it was too hot to try to stagger to any of the hides so I went home.  A most beautiful sunset was incoming as I came into Felixstowe so I headed to the Ferry to make the most of it.  The temperature had cooled enough to make it comfortable as well.

A young herring gull glowing in the evening sunlight.

I took the above three from the jetty - I then headed through the boatyard to catch the light on the mud flats.

Felixstowe Ferry sits within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known as Suffolk Coasts and Heaths - you can see why, can't you?

Got to have a few gulls as well!

A stunning moon to finish off with:

Enjoy, as always.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
