As many of you who read my posts will know,we bus, bike and walk everywhere so It can be a bit of a hoof getting to our "local" reserves but we do get there. On one of our walks over the last few years we have noticed an area transform from a field Into a local nature reserve. It has landscaped areas and flood alleviation works constructed as part of a park and ride scheme. There are two retention ponds and today we saw Swans and Ducks and a Moorhen. It was really nice to see ,because In march this year we didn't see any Birds at all on the pond.
Also saw some Dragonflies and Damselflies
This Crow posed for me on a rock
We also saw Great tits, Blackbirds various other birds but the highlight for me just walking away from the reserve along the river we saw two Grey Wagtails no pic they were a bit quick.
All this from a park and ride that was built and a short walk from our town centre, quite nice I think.

If its no fun Yer no doin it right!
Hi Littleowl
It looks like a really nice spot. It just shows that with careful planning something as functional as a park and ride facility can also benefit the environment. It's amazing how quickly wildlife moves in when suitable habitats are created. It's really quite encouraging and to coin a phrase "every little helps".
Regards TJ

Hi TJ,
Yes It Is a nice spot! There are various habitats Including broadleaved woodland, wet woodland, wet and neutral grassland and a nice variety of aquatic vegetation so hopefully In time the area will attract a variety of wildlife and I for one am looking forward to watching It grow.
Great to see and we can only hope other follow suit. I'm sure it will look even better once it's settled down a little more. Your wonderful pictures captures the true beauty of the place.
Robert

Lovely photographs littleowl, thank you. Great to see that 'mother nature' has moved in and provides us with such beautiful sights.
Thankyou Marjus and Brenda for your kind comments on my post.I will be visiting quite often throughout the year to see what other wildlife has moved In.
How very enterprising of whoever constructed the site - local authority? It looks very pretty and will attract all sorts of wildlife I'm certain. It seems to have attracted a fair amount already.
That turquoise fly is amazing. Super photos Littleowl, really excellent. I'm looking forward to some more next time you visit.
Cheers, Linda.
