Hello everyone, we are coming to the New Forest / Dorset this summer and wonder where is the best place to get to see Dartford Warblers and if anyone knows how well they are doing after such a hard winter? Also is there a place where you are guaranteed to see Firecrest.
Thanks everyone
Mam
Hi,
try this- http://66.102.9.132/search?q=cache:WFQteAfOHO0J:www.birdsofbritain.co.uk/features/new-forest.asp+bird+watching+new+forest+firecrest&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk
There are no guaranteed Firecrest sites and it is easier when they are singing in April May but you never know :)
Beaulieu road station area and Bishop's dyke are worth a look for dratfords, woodlark, hobby etc.
Watch out for Horseflies !

For advice about Birding, Identification, field guides, binoculars, scopes, tripods, etc - put 'Birding Tips' into the search box
Thanks for that. I wonder if my midge repelant (skin so soft) will work on the horseflies.
LOL
