Blashford Lakes, Nr Ringwood, Hants.

I went to Blashford Lakes for a couple of hours Sunday afternoon.  It was a lovely sunny afternoon but the wind had a bit of a chill to it.

I watched lapwings and black-headed gulls from the Tern Hide for a while.  This lapwing must be sitting on a nest I think.

I  then crosed over into the woodland area and saw these lovely wild daffodils

The air was filled with all sorts of birdsong so I just stood and listened for a while.

I went on to the Woodland Hide and saw chaffinches, great spotted woodpeckers, robins, dunnocks, great tits and blue tits.  Two blue tits were having a tremendous fight.  They were locked together by the feet and were thrashing about on the ground.  It went on for some time and looked quite fierce.  Not something you expect to see from innocent looking blue tits!

It was quiet on the lakes, with just a few tufted ducks, canada geese and little grebes about  so I didn't linger very long.

It is interesting to see the reserve change with the seasons and I am sure to be back there again soon.
