Findhorn Bay Pt.2

If you want to see the first lot of picture I took then go here: http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/wildlife/f/1920/t/112806.aspx

But here is the next installment of my snaps :)

First off... one of many, many shots of a very distant Osprey. I got overly excited just seeing it. Dont worry about how rubbish this pic is though, there's more to come! (this is very heavily cropped by the way)

Next up: The House Martins that were nesting on the house next door.

Another distant Osprey shot...

One of three Pied Wagtails that wandered about on the beach in front of the beach

Starlings decided to have a wee rest on our roof.

Back to the House Martins. One appeared to be making a new nest. In anticipation for next year or do they not do that?

Very attentive parents, even with me staring at them.

Yellowhammer in the yellow sunlight. Lovely weather up there. Findhorn almost has its own microclimate.

Another beautiful sunset...

Coal Tit against a blue sky.

Another gull... help with how to ID gulls would be helpful if anyone can be bothered? Just the differance between Herring and Lesser and Great Black-backed would be perfect.

Wee Jenny Wren with something to eat.

Another of the Meadow Pipits

The Sand Martin Colony. Very nice beach-side property with view out to sea!

And here is where I found my first Sand Martins.

Thanks for looking! The next bunch of pics are probably going to be exclusively Osprey based as I feel that I got enough good pictures of it for it to be of interest in its own thread :)

Cheers

  • Nice set of shots Gus. I'm not an expert on Gulls (or much else) but I think your Gull is a Herring Gull. It looks like it has pink legs, as opposed to a Lesser-black Backed, which has yellow legs. On the ground the Herring Gull has a pale grey back, compared to the Lesser-black Backed, which is a much darker shade of grey. I hope this helps a bit but someone may come along and expand on this, (or tell you that I'm wrong).!!
