Hiya All
Thought you might like to see 2 of my goldfinches feeding today. There was about 12 but as soon as I got anywhere near with my camera the rest buzzed off and sat and watched me from the trees. I waited for ages but they would not return in numbers - awkward little devils!! I am sure they were laughing at me!
Do you think I could do a Seymouraves and ask what the bird in the botton left hand corner is? Ha ha ha only joking!!
Sorry the pictures isn't too good. I had a little Kodak camera only 4 mp which took great pictures and then it died so I bought one with 12 mp and I can't seem to be able to take a decent photo at all - very hit and miss, but will keep trying.

You have no control over what life & people throw at you - but you have full control over how you deal with it!
Lovely clear picture littleowl. I only have three and no other finches at all, but am grateful for the ones i do have and they seem to be spending longer on the feeders and returning more frequently each day.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

Hi Bramble,
sorry forgot to say I liked your pics too I got carried away with Sparrows numbers.I am also grateful for my two that visit, or any bird that drops by for some food.
Littleowl
Beautiful picture Littleowl. They are such gorgeous birds. I think you're right - there is one hiding, so there are 11. Thank you !
I started feeding birds last May. I put nyjer up right from the start, and sunflower hearts a month later. I had nothing in the way of finches at all and replaced the nyjer several times, totally unused. I was about to abandon all hope when I got my first pair of goldies - on 20th November, which was 6 months down the line. I then had to wait until this year's snow before I got any other sort of finch, and then they all seemed to come at once.
Like everyone else, I am so grateful for the ones I get and I don't care if they are brown, black, gold, green, yellow or blue. They are all beautiful.
Cheers, Linda.

Sparrow,I have been feeding birds in my garden every day for the last three years and this was the first year I had Goldfinches and the Blackcap.I always put out Nyger seed because the male Chaffinch liked It,but I don't see him at the moment.
Sparrow that is blatant bragging with all those finches, LOL! Such lovely birds, all of them :o)
That's a lovely clear shot there Littleowl :o)
I had 4 Goldfinches yesterday, well I did until the two that have been coming *dare I say it* regular chased them off! Have managed a couple of photos of 1 and a half Goldies (feeder in the way) but they're on my other computer so will show them later. The fence being a red/brown colour doesn't do the Goldies and justice though.
Morning All,
Poor Kezmo! Never mind, I had six goldies today so I'll ask them to call by and see you :-)
There was a bit of a rumpus in my garden today but I didn't see what happened. I heard a bird calling with alarm, then there was noise of claws scrabbling about on something plastic (guttering? wheelie bin? next door's furniture cover?) I looked out and saw an agitated blue tit hopping about and all the feeders swinging about. The base of the sunflower heart feeder was on the floor together with all the sunflower hearts and there wasn't another bird in sight. They soon came back though and that's when I saw the six goldies (oops! sorry to mention them again!) There was also a blackcap, robin, great tit and a couple of chaffies. I guess the rumpus was caused by a BOP or a cat (not mine as he was asleep on the bed). I hope the victim wasn't the blue tit's mate... Fingers crossed.
There is something new to learn everyday...

I've just seen everybody's great photos. They are lovely. Thanks for sharing them with us. I was spying on a goldie at the weekend with my new scope and I could see his black nasal hairs and he even had a natty little moustache (sorry - don't know how to spell that!). When my digiscoping kit arrives I will try for a picure ;-)
What chaos SB! Sounds like a BOP who may have swooped down on the feeder, taking the bottom off as he did. I hope there wasn't a victim.
I've also asked my goldies to pay Kezmo a visit.
Hi SB,
Previous posts crossed. How did you know we would love to see a photo of the nasal hair! Buzzard will be so impressed.
He he! I've got to learn to use it first mind. Might need a PhD to put it all together and I have enough trouble with the tripod as it is! Watch this space...
